With each year I grow older, I find my taste in wine, beer, and spirits changes and adapts too. This summer, I have fallen for gin. I keep it fairly simply for the most part, just gin and soda. But today I felt inspired.
Here in Turkey, there is only about a one-week window in July for fresh, sun-sweetened blackberries and their price certainly reflects the demand. I splurged and bought half a kilo (roughly 1 pound) for about 15 lira, or 7.50USD. These blackberries were somewhat tangy and tart in their first couple of days but 3 days after purchasing these blue-purple beauties, they transformed into the sweet natural treat they are known to be -- YUM!

This easy summer cocktail is going down as my summer 2014 drink of choice.
Serves two perfectly. Enjoy this spiked and refreshing beverage straight up or on the rocks!
