Oats are available at most of Istanbul's larger groceries, like Micros and Carrefour. You can even find muesli, if you are willing to pay 7TL for it. I'd prefer to buy a regular bag of yulaf ezmesi (whole oats) and add in my own spices for what is sure to be a crowd pleaser in the AM.
2 cups whole oats (not instant)
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground ginger
4 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1. Preheat the oven to 300F.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cinnamon, ginger, salt, honey, oil, water, and vanilla together. Toss to coat completely.
3. Spread the granola out on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake until dry and crisp, but not yet browned, 30 to 35 minutes, stirring once or twice.
4. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
