Making peanut butter at home is easy, relatively cheap, and healthier than any store bought versions.
1 lb raw peanuts
1-3 tsp vegetable oil
pinch of salt
1. Heat oven to 350F.
2. Roast peanuts until fragrant and lightly browned. Make sure to shuffle peanuts around to ensure they are getting evenly roasted.
3. Pour hot peanuts into a food processor. Add salt, 1-2 tsp honey (or more if you like sweeter peanut butter) and 1 tsp vegetable oil. Pulse mixture 3-4 times.
4.Peanuts will look crumby at first, keeping pulsing and then fully blend together ingredients until creamy.
5. Feel free to add a little more oil to get your mixture well-combined and creamy.
*Omit honey is making a vegan version! Instead replace with agave.
**If you can't find raw peanuts where you are, you can certainly use roasted, unsalted peanuts.
